Job Description: Bench Joiner

Hours: 40 hrs per week

Times of Work: 8.00-16.30 Monday to Friday

Reports To: Workshop Foreman

Workplace: Mainly Joinery Shop

Objective: To produce high quality, purpose made joinery to client’s specification.

Primary Responsibilities

1. To assist in the supervision and training of apprentices/trainees
2. To comply with all health and safety legislation and company rules
3. To ensure a clean and tidy work environment at all times
4. To carry out machining when necessary
5. To carry out all other tasks as requested

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Minimum qualification of a City and Guilds Advanced Craft Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery or NVQ level 3
2. An understanding of how to read and interpret 2Dand 3D drawings
3. Excellent knowledge of types of timber, setting out, machining, assembly, and finishing
4. Knowledge of health and safety regulations
5. Experience in supervising/training apprentices and trainees
6. Knowledge of maintaining machines
7. Experience and the ability to produce the following:-

• Section windows, doors and door linings
• Box frame windows and bay windows
• Circular work (all aspects using a ring fence)
• Staircases with winders, handrails and balustrades
• Furniture and Kitchen Cabinetry
